Summer reading?

Thinking about your summer reading list?

The Inner and Outer Connections committee will be offering 3 ‘book study’ evenings this coming fall/winter (dates/times tba). Books that will be discussed:

  • The Pagan Christ: Recovering the Lost Light (2004), by Tom Harpur
  • Grounded: Finding God in the World – a spiritual revolution (2015) by Diana Butler Bass
  • Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks (2018), by Diana Butler Bass

Why not get a jump start on your reading, and do some spiritual exploring at the same time? Happy summer reading!

May 27 Conference Worship

Board meeting notes …

The Board met on Tuesday, May 15th.

  • A Fundraising dinner at DeLuca’s is being planned for the fall by the Bell Tower Cafe – watch for details of how you can get on board and support them in the coming weeks.
  • Strategic Report – The Board has completed their work of going through the entire Report in the last 5 months, and concluded the meeting with a final review of the Vision, Mission and Values Statements. Watch for an opportunity to be involved as we seek the input from all to conclude this task.
  • The Winnipeg Police Services will be here on June 3rd, with a presentation on workplace safety. Look for details on how to sign up.
  • We discussed the ongoing assessment by the structural engineers for the Solar Panel project, to determine the ability of our roof to withstand the weight of the panels.
  • Since announcing that project, the need to replace the front steps has arisen and a “Community Places” grant is being applied to for funding of the steps. It has the potential to cover a large portion of the costs involved.
  • A list of current, planned and future Property projects has been distributed to the Board, so that informed decisions can be made going forward.

Although the challenges of managing an aging structure mean that surprises should always be anticipated, immense credit needs to be given to Brandon Johnston and the Property Committee for their effective and proactive handling of those ongoing challenges. (I am immensely grateful to the entire Board for their hard work, dedication and support — Carol.)

Westminster Open

The 21st Westminster Open Golf Tournament is scheduled for TUESDAY, June 5. Detailed information about the tournament can be obtained from Peter Macdonald,, (204) 889-6983.
