Nathan’s Notes

Alleluia is the final movement from Exsultate Jubilate — a four movement work for the orchestra featuring a soprano soloist. While our Rebecca McIntosh is performing this piece this morning, it was not originally written for the female voice. This composition was written for a man named Venanzio Rauzzini — a castrato. Venanzio was famous in his day not only as a singer, but as a composer, pianist, and teacher. Mozart wrote this for Venanzio, admiring his technical skill. I’m fairly certain that Mozart would truly appreciate the vocal fireworks of this morning’s presentation just as much!

We still have room in our camps for new campers, and we still need some counsellors, chaplains and general volunteers! Register at www.rocklake.com.

And in the late late news … sports!

After fighting off a potential liability claim re an eagle 3 on a par 5 (don’t believe everything you hear), the team of long-hitting Helen LaRue, Rob Livingstone, Greg Blanco and Delmar Epp won the 22nd Westminster Open Golf Tournament. 15 golfers were joined by 13 non-golfers for the tournament dinner. The event produced $2127 for Westminster.
