Sports

After fighting off a potential liability claim re an eagle 3 on a par 5 (don’t believe everything you hear), the team of long-hitting Helen LaRue, Rob Livingstone, Greg Blanco and Delmar Epp won the 22nd Westminster Open Golf Tournament. 15 golfers were joined by 13 non-golfers for the tournament dinner. The event produced $2127 for Westminster.

Please remember the Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council (Welcome Place) in your prayers this week.

Emergency Food Cupboard

Our emergency food cupboard is running low on ready to eat foods. Granola bars, pudding cups, fruit cups, cheese and crackers would be most welcome.

Do you remember …?

… back in December the congregation of Westminster had an opportunity to see the WSO’s “Messiah” and in turn the WSO was going to donate a percentage of the proceeds of those tickets sold, back to Westminster? Well, we got the cheque this week. $88 – easy money! Thank you!

Big steps for little kids!

Good news! Sunday June 2nd was a beautiful sunny afternoon for the Westminster Walkathon. About a dozen walkers enjoyed the five-kilometer stretch alongside the Assiniboine River, followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship. And we met our target of raising $1500.00 for outreach projects in the Church neighbourhood. The Inner & Outer Connections Committee will be disbursing the funds to Mulvey School and Westminster Daycare for reading programmes and other enrichment activities and for indoor shoes.

A big THANK YOU to the many people who contributed to the success of this event: walkers, donors, members of the Congregational Care Committee who prepared the lunch preceding the walk, and members who baked cookies for the lunch and refreshments following the walk.
