Prayers and Praise

  • This week in the prayer cycle we remember the congregation and staff of Trinity United Church.
  • Thanks to all who helped make the Emmet Cahill concert a resounding success on May 1st. The choir, ushers, ticket and CD sales volunteers made everything look easy. Advance ticket sales managed so capably by Shannon MacFarlane and Marilyn Thiessen. Special thanks go to committee members Nathan Poole, Rebecca McIntosh, Rita Menzies and Rev. Sherri McConnell. It truly was ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ — Carol Latter.
  • We offer our condolences to the family of Margaret Harrison who passed away on April 26. The funeral service will be at St. Andrew’s River Heights on May 7 at 7 pm.
  • We offer condolences to the family of Judy Kuzyk who died on April 20. Rev. McConnell will be presiding at a graveside service at the end of May.
  • We offer condolences to the family of John Copsey died in January. Rev. McConnell will be presiding at a graveside service at the end of May, with a funeral reception in the chapel.

Please remember each of these families in your prayers.

Glen & Margaret Harrison Scholarship Fund

The Glen and Margaret Harrison Scholarship Fund has been established by the Gilbert and Sullivan Society to assist young performers in continuing their training after high school. Westminster Church Walkathon

Big Steps for Little Kids

The Inner & Outer Connections Committee (formerly Outreach) invites fit & active members of the congregation to take part in a Walkathon in support of Mulvey School and Westminster Daycare on Sunday June 2nd, 2019. The objective is to raise $1,500 for reading programmes and other enrichment activities and for indoor shoes. We ask participants to solicit sponsorships from families, friends and acquaintances, as well as from the congregation of Westminster Church. Anyone wishing to enjoy the walk and fellowship without soliciting sponsorships can do so for a $10 donation.

Following a light lunch at the Church on Sunday June 2nd, participants will gather at the home of Carol Harvey, 132 Riverbend Crescent at 1:00 p.m. Our route starts on Riverbend Crescent, then heads West on the footpaths alongside the Assiniboine River, across the Assiniboine Park footbridge, then East through the Park and along the Wellington Crescent footpaths back to the starting point. This is a lovely, leafy circuit of approximately 5 kilometres. Children welcome. The walk ends at Carol’s home for light refreshments and fellowship.
