Stars on the Memory Tree have been purchased by Valerie Morrow, Shannon MacFarlane, Margaret Cuddy and Cynthia Goncalves. The Memory Tree will be in the sanctuary until January 31, 2019. Order forms for memorial stars are in the narthex and the back hallway.

Nathan’s Notes

Today’s anthem is well known to us as a hymn. The tune is called Thaxted — What’s a ‘Thaxted’ you ask? I know the answer, but I’m not going to tell you. This is your music history homework for the week. The composer, Gustov Holst wrote this memorable tune as part of a larger piece, named after the planet Jupiter. It’s part of a larger suite, called “The Planets”, written between 1914-1916. There is a piece dedicated to each planet, excluding the Sun, and our own planet Earth. Pluto was also left out, as it was only discovered in 1930. I encourage you to listen to the whole suite — especially Mars and Venus.

Leftovers?

You’ve already been so generous, but if you find yourself with leftover gift wrap, ribbon and gift bags, don’t store them at your place. Bring them to Westminster and we’ll store them for the Children’s Christmas sale 2019. We’ll even take gifts for next year’s sale.

The Mitten Tree

The Mitten Tree is up and awaiting your donations of mitts, hats, and scarves in the Narthex.
