Westminster Concert Organ Series presents … from St. Paul’s Cathedral, Simon Johnson in concert. Sunday, May 7th, 2:30 pm Tickets at the door.

Thank you!

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone for your help and support with our first Messy Church. Looking forward to continuing this area of ministry together in the fall — Teri.

All children are invited to gather at the Children’s Table following the anthem for a quiet activity to help them engage in and experience the gospel message while allowing them to move around and explore in ways that come naturally to them.

In this week’s Gospel reading we learn that the first followers of Jesus were known by their loving actions. Today at the Children’s Table, make a magnifying glass and search for signs of Jesus’ love.

For more information about the Children’s Table contact Teri Skakum, Child and Family Coordinator, at teri@

Bell Tower Hygiene Kits

The Bell Tower will be filling hygiene kits to give out with food hampers in June with some essentials: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant and more. Help us by filling a kit or two and spreading the word and asking your friends and co-workers to fill a bag too. Bags to be filled can be picked up during coffee following the service and include all of the instructions inside the bag. Fill and return the bags by June 1st. Drop your completed bags into the basket in the Narthex. Thank you!

Guided tours will be offered by our experts, Roy Halstead and Carol Latter. There will also be organ demonstrations. Please consider assisting with this very worthwhile event. Rock Lake United Church Camp Report

We have one staff position to fill, that of the Waterfront Director. No applications for counsellors have been received to date. Please encourage your teens to apply as early as possible if they are planning to do so.

The quilt auction proceeds were approximately $14,000 with a few bills left to pay. Home Town Green Team support has been cut in half with funds for one wage instead of the usual two. The Morden Thrift Store grant ($6,000) is half of what we have received in the past two years. We have received $300 from the Glenboro Foundation. The United Church of Canada’s Gifts with Vision has forwarded $2,594 and there may be more to come.

The Kitchen Project has raised $1290. A Kitchen Aid mixer and shredder/slicer attachment, a microwave, and a can opener have been purchased from this fund. The kitchen south side roof shingling has been completed this spring with shingles purchased from a 2016 grant.

We are so grateful to all who put so much time and talent into making all the beautiful quilts and crafts and all others who donated in any way and to those who supported so generously at the auction. All support is appreciated and we look forward to seeing lots of Winnipeg children at camp.

MTS Rising Stars

— featuring our own fabulous Ben Erickson!!

On May 18, 2017, MTS Rising Stars is proud to present Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. The concert will feature a 300-voice choir comprised of students from various Winnipeg high schools in performance with the WSO. To prepare for this exciting program, students will work with WSO Music Director Alexander Mickelthwate in rehearsal, as well as rehearse with the full orchestra. The talent of youth will also be showcased through the Vocal Soloist Competition, which will allow two student vocalists to perform a piece of their choice with the WSO — a thrilling opportunity for all!
